These “songs” or musical ideas were all recorded in 24 hours of each other. This little project served as both a means to explore the fretboard as well as a means to reacquaint myself with apple’s complimentary recording software. The tracks consist of three to four layered guitar parts, (digital 5 strings has 5; I broke my high string and didn’t have a spare.) I ran the guitar straight in. Nothing fancy. Just Garageband’s amp patches and preset drum loops. As a rule (a rule I kept for the most part) I limited myself to one take per layer. The recording process was much like a game of telephone, hitting record with little fore thought as to where I would go. My intentions were to see where my fingers might wander and forget what I think I know about music and how it works. Some tracks go nowhere, some yielded new motifs and riffs that I’ll probably keep in my pocket. Feel free to steal anything you like. I did the same.
